Fun Fact about Manuka Honey
Manuka honey is produced by honeybees gathering the nectar of native Manuka (Leptospermum scoparium), which grows uncultivated throughout New Zealand. Honey has its special properties as evidenced by their mention in many religious books such as the Bible and Quran. What more when it is honey derived from the Manuka trees.
There are several different tests and trials being conducted on determining the special nature of Manuka which will soon be available, allowing consumers to verify the origin and provenance of Manuka honey. The UMF® rating is a measure of the attributes and values that make up Manuka honey, and assures purity and quality. UMF® is the registered trademark of UMFHA (Unique Manuka Factor Honey Association) in New Zealand and can be used only by licensed operators that meet published standards which includes the monitoring and auditing of honey quality.
